What is patient and public involvement?

Patient and public involvement (PPI) is a rapidly developing area of healthcare as healthcare professionals are beginning to see the value of involving and engaging patients when writing guidelines and doing research.

Patients and their carers are becoming more valued as experts in their medical conditions,  and they can now be involved in decision making on funding and reviewing research, priority setting, attending scientific sessions at conferences and workshops as well as other opportunities.
